LAWYER TO SUE OSCEOLA FOR TREATMENT OF INMATE

KISSIMMEE - An Orlando lawyer filed an intent to sue Osceola County as a result of mistreatment of an inmate at the County Jail.

Attorney E. Clay Parker sent a letter informing County Manager Rob Magnaghi of his intent to sue because of ``excessive force and brutality'' inflicted on inmate Jerry Lee Carpenter.

The incident, which happened Sept. 2, prompted an internal investigation, which led to the firing of several corrections officers.

Parker earlier this year settled with the county for $2.2 million in the 1997 death of inmate Daniel Sagers.
